In the second one-day international match of the three-match series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan, which took place at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bowl first.

After the rain-interrupted first one-day international (ODI) on Wednesday, which the visitors won by 17 runs through DLS, the Tigers need to win today in order to keep the series alive. The visitors’ dominant all-round performance helped them win.

Following Tamim Iqbal’s unexpected departure from international cricket on Thursday, the Tigers had planned to appoint Liton Das as captain for the rest of the Afghanistan series, and they put Mohammad Naim Sheikh in the opening position for today’s encounter. This was done despite Tamim Iqbal having led the side in the first one-day international (ODI).

Tamim, on the other hand, changed his mind after having a conversation with the Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, that lasted for three and a half hours yesterday. He is now planning to take a six-week vacation in order to seek the necessary therapy for his ailment.

Ebadot Hossain, another pacer, has replaced Taskin Ahmed in the playing eleven for the Tigers, making this the team’s last lineup adjustment.

In the meanwhile, Afghanistan has not made any changes to their starting lineup.
