Nahidul Islam, an off-spinner, took four wickets to help his team win its first match of the current Bangladesh Premier League 2024 against Chattogram Challengers in Mirpur on Saturday.
Nahidul scooped up four wickets for 12 runs in four overs, knocking out four of Chattogram’s top five batsmen and reducing the Shuvagata Hom-led side to 121.
A 31-ball 40-run knock from tailender Shohidul Islam helped Chattogram to a total of more than 100 despite losing half their side for 61 runs after nine overs.
In response, Khulna batsmen had to dig deep to chase down the small mark, but Mahmudul Hasan Joy’s 44-ball 39 and a 28-ball 26 were enough for Anamul Haque Bijoy’s team to get their first points on the board.
