Today, Bangladesh cricketers Nahida Akter and Fargana Hoque were named to the ICC women’s player of the month shortlist for November 2023.
The nomination was based on their performances in Bangladesh’s ODI series victory against Pakistan at home in November.
Sadia Iqbal of Pakistan, who also competed in the series, is the third candidate, alongside the two Bangladeshis.
Nahida, a left-arm spinner, took seven wickets at an average of 14.14 in the three-match series against Pakistan and was named series player.
Nahida bowled the crucial Super Over in the second ODI, conceding only seven runs and grabbing two wickets as the Tigresses won the game and kept the series alive.
She scored 3-26 in the last match as the hosts won the series 2-1.
Fargana, a top-order hitter, was the series’ best run-getter, with 110 runs at an average of 36.66 with a highest score of 62 in the series-deciding third ODI.
The ICC also announced the three men’s player of the month nominees for November: Australia’s Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, and India’s Mohammed Shami.
