Miraz strikes to break 65-run stand, ebadot gets his third victim0

On the second day of the one-off Test being played in Mirpur today, Bangladesh are in the lead after Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Ebadot Hossain took out two set batsmen for Afghanistan.

This came after Afghanistan put together their first solid partnership in their maiden innings.

After 27 overs, the visitors’ score is 117 for six, they are behind by 265 runs, and they need to score 66 runs to avoid being followed on.

From a hazardous position of 51 for four, stumper-batter Afsar Zazai and Nasir Jamal put up a 65-run partnership for the fifth wicket in a short amount of time. The pair seemed to have the situation under control in the middle until Miraz caught Jamal in front with a flighted ball that went on to spin sharply. Jamal was 35 at the time.

The batter, Zazai (36), was eventually removed from the game by Ebadot because he had paid the price for being too aggressive in contrast to the requirement of the scenario. A poorly timed pull shot by Zazai was easily collected by Shoriful Islam, who was fielding at the deep position.
