Francesco Camarda, a youthful star for AC Milan, made history on Saturday by defeating Fiorentina 1-0 to become the youngest player to ever play in Serie A.
At the age of fifteen years, eight months and fifteen days, attacker Camarda entered the pitch at the San Siro in the eightieth minute to take Luka Jovic’s place.
“He’s got a lot of talent and intelligence, he knows that he needs to work harder than everyone else,” Milan captain Davide Calabria remarked following the game.
In Saturday’s victory, Milan mostly defended late on, and Camarda, who gained notoriety for scoring a bicycle kick against Paris Saint-Germain in the UFA Youth League, had virtually little influence.
He surpassed the previous record held by Wisdom Amey, a defender for Bologna who debuted in Serie A in May 2022 at the age of fifteen years, nine months, and one day.
After a string of absences for Milan, which included Olivier Giroud, Rafael Leao, and Noah Okafor, Camarda was called up from the youth setup.
Milan is now five points behind Inter Milan, the league leaders, who play second-place Juventus on Sunday. Inter Milan is leading the Serie A.
