It was revealed on Sunday by selector Habibul Bashar that Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal had sought to be rested for the third and final one-day international match against New Zealand.
Liton was unable to make an impression and was removed after scoring six runs in the second one-day international that Bangladesh played against New Zealand on Saturday. The match’s final score was 68 runs in favor of New Zealand.
On Tuesday, the third and final match of the series, which will also decide the winner of the series, the stand in captain will not participate. Because of an illness caused by a virus, Liton had to sit out the first round of the Asia Cup earlier this month before rejoining the squad for the Super Four round. The player, who is 28 years old, said that he was not feeling well and expressed a desire to return to training after taking some time off before the World Cup.
Today, the team management will make an announcement on who will lead the side in the third and deciding One-Day International match against New Zealand. Regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan is unable to play, and Liton has been given the opportunity to rest up for the match.
Since making his return to international cricket, experienced Tamim, who hit 44 runs in the second one-day international (ODI), has also endured some difficulty. The veteran left-handed batter also need rest in order to recuperate from his back issue.
