At ground 2 of the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium (SKICS) in Cox’s Bazar today, East Zone defeated North Zone by 62 runs to earn their first victory in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) one-day format. The victory was secured by Mahmudul Hasan Joy with a century.
In the end, Joy was dismissed with 112 runs off 128 deliveries, which included six sixes and eleven fours. Twenty-one was scored by opener Parvez Hossain Emon as the East Zone amassed 279 for ten in 49.2 overs.
North Zone, in response, encountered initial difficulties and consistently lost wickets, ultimately being dismissed for 217 in 40.5 overs. Pritom Kumar’s 45 continued to be North’s highest tally.
Rejaur Rahman Raja, a pacer, amassed three wickets for East, while Khaled Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed, and Nayeem Hasan each collected two.
In the interim, Central Zone secured their second consecutive triumph in the tournament by prevailing over South Zone by four wickets in a scoreless contest played on SKICS ground 1.
Shuvagata Hom and Nazmul Islam Apu, both spinners, each took three wickets, reducing South Zone to 163. The unblemished 74 runs of Maidul Islam Ankon assisted Central in passing the target with four deliveries remaining.
