In yesterday’s third division match in Argentina, the Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuiyan scored on his debut as Sol de Mayo defeated Germinal 2-1.
The 33-year-old scored a penalty kick in the 81st minute to help his team defeat Germinal 2-1 in the Torneo de Federal A League. He donned the captain’s armband in his first game at the Sol de Mayo Stadium.
At the halfway point of the first half, Argentine attacker Fernando Valdebenito gave Sol de Mayo the lead. Three minutes before the allotted time expired, Germinal scored again, but Sol de Mayo held on to earn all three points and move up to fifth place in the nine-team points standings.
I played my first game today. 3 to 4 degrees (Celsius) of bitter cold and strong winds prevailed. The most crucial factor, though, is that we scored three points, Jamal remarked in a video message after the game.
“I was pleased with the goal I scored. Overall, I’m extremely thrilled since many Bangladeshis came to support me, the midfielder said.
The next game for Sol de Mayo will take place on September 9, and Jamal will return to Bangladesh on Wednesday to join the team for the FIFA friendly against Afghanistan.
