After having a spectacular season in the currently-running Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals’ in-form opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is ready to make his debut for India on the international stage, according to batting legend Sunil Gavaskar.
On Friday, Jaiswal scored a fifty off of 36 balls to lead Rajasthan to a victory against Punjab Kings by four wickets. With 625 runs from 14 matches, he moved up to second place on the list of the best run scorers, behind only Faf du Plessis of Royal Challengers Bangalore, who has 702 runs from 13 matches.
This season, the 21-year-old broke the record for the fastest IPL half-century, which he accomplished in 13 balls. He also surpassed the mark that had been held by Australian Shaun Marsh for the previous 15 years to become the greatest run-getter among uncapped players in a single season.
Gavaskar, who served as the captain of India’s national cricket team in the past, believes that Jaiswal ought to be given the chance to play for India while he is at the height of his abilities.
Gavaskar stated to Star Sports prior to Friday’s match that “I think he’s ready and should be given a chance.” When a player is in form and then gets the chance, it skyrockets his confidence. “
“There is always a sense of uncertainty, ‘Am I ready for worldwide standard?’ Your self-doubt will rise in proportion to the state of your form at any given time. Therefore, it is essential to be in good physical shape throughout that period.
Gavaskar praised Jaiswal’s ability to play for India, praising both his mindset and his skill.
If a hitter can score 40–50 runs in twenty overs while facing 20–25 balls, then he has done a good job for the team. “But if he’s an opener, you’d want him to play 15 overs,” Gavaskar added. “That’s the ideal situation.”
“If he scores a century, your team’s total would easily surpass the 190-200 mark. You have a good chance of winning.” That is why it has brought a smile to my face to see Yashasvi bat the way she has this season. Additionally, he is a technically proficient hitter.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan is currently in fifth place and is one of six teams vying for the final three slots in the playoffs.
