The chairman of the BCB grounds committee, Mahbubul Anam, announced that five sports federations will be provided space in the Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium complex by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

The BCB director, who holds significant influence, visited the stadium that is currently being built and stated that the NSC had asked the board earlier to make space for other federations at the new Purbachol stadium.

Mahbubul mentioned that in addition to the cricket ground, they are planning to build an academy building and a hotel space. They also plan to include a cricketers’ club and infrastructure for five sporting federations. All these facilities will be built gradually.

The NSC asked us to make room for some federations, so we chose five out of a list of thirty provided by them. We’ve already made the necessary space arrangements and included it in our plans, and we’ll make sure there are separate entry and exit points to avoid any complications.

Mahbubul didn’t say which five federations BCB would make room for, but the state minister for Youth and Sports, Zahid Ahsan Russel, stated that the space would be for indoor sports federations.

Russel proposed to the BCB to allocate space for indoor games. If granted, a gymnasium and vertical extension building could be built for each federation. BCB president Nazmul Hassan agreed to the proposal, but they have not yet decided which federations will be allocated the space. They will have a meeting next week to decide.

Anam shared information about the cricket facilities, stating that the main ground will have 10 pitches and the training ground will have 6. He mentioned that preparations for the pitches will start next month and the board is planning to hire a curator from New Zealand.
