India pip aus at top of test rankings0

India moved up to first place in the latest Test rankings published by the International Cricket Council on Tuesday, moving ahead of Australia in the process. India also maintained their status as the best team in Twenty20 competition.

According to the rankings that were issued by the ICC, England is still ranked third in Tests, but they have drastically closed the distance between themselves and the top two teams.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the newly released yearly rankings take into account all competitions that have taken place since May 2020 and exclude performances from the 2019-20 season.

The last time India spent a month atop the Test rankings was in December 2021, while Australia has held the top spot since January 2022, shortly after their 4-0 victory over England in the Ashes.

Aside from those two changes, the table remained the same, with South Africa in fourth place and New Zealand in fifth, followed by Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the West Indies, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe.

Both Afghanistan and Ireland have not yet reached the required number of Test matches to be included in the rankings chart.

India maintained their position atop the T20 rankings, strengthening their advantage over the team in second place, England, while New Zealand moved up to third place, passing both Pakistan and South Africa.

The Australian cricket team are now ranked sixth, ahead of the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan respectively.
