After getting the tourists off to a decent start and chasing Bangladesh’s total of 164 in the first one-day international of the three-match series on Wednesday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz was removed by Shakib Al Hasan for a score of 22 off 44 balls.
The match was the first of the three-match series.
In the first stand, Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran scored a combined 54 runs, but Shakib was able to get the better of the former in the 16th over.
Gurbaz attempted to take on a full delivery that Shakib was bowling but was unable to generate a sufficient connection and instead smacked the ball straight to midwicket.
