Favourites cruise as bpl returns0

Yesterday marked the return of the Bangladesh Premier League after being postponed for one month due to the international commitments of the Bangladesh national team. The tournament’s favorites were victorious in their opening matches at all three of the tournament’s sites.

Sheikh Jamal was defeated by the Bashundhara Kings 3-1 in their last encounter, which took place at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj. All three goals were scored by the Bashundhara Kings’ newly acquired international players. The Bashundhara Kings have already won their fourth league title.

The goal scored by Brazilian Miguel Ferreira in the third minute gave the Kings the lead. His two compatriots, Dorielton Gomes and Robson da Silva, scored two more goals for the Kings in the 42nd and 77th minutes respectively. The goal scored by Abu Shaeid in the 90th minute was a compensation goal for the Kings.

At the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla, Malian captain Souleymane Diabate scored a hat trick to lead Mohammedan to a 6-0 victory over Azampur FC. This was Diabate’s third hat trick of the league.

Diabate, who had previously scored hat tricks against Muktijoddha Sangsad and Azampur FC in the first round, scored in the 10th, 68th, and 89th minutes of the match. Emanuel Sunday and Anwar Hossain scored in the 49th and 54th minutes of the match, respectively.

Sheikh Russel defeated Fortis FC by a score of 2-0. Sunday Udoh and Kenneth Ngowoke scored for Sheikh Russel; their goals came in the 33rd and 63rd minutes of the match, respectively.

After 19 games, the Kings have accumulated 52 points, which is 26 more than the fourth-placed Mohammedan and the fifth-placed Sheikh Russel, who have maintained their position below Mohammedan due to goal difference.

Sheikh Jamal, Fortis, and Azampur, who were demoted earlier, are now in sixth, seventh, and 11th positions, respectively, with 21, 20, and five points.
