Thibaut Courtois is unable to play in the match against Girona due to gastroenteritis, adding to the growing number of Real Madrid players who are unavailable.
Madrid announced in a statement on Tuesday morning that the goalkeeper will not be traveling with the team as he is suffering from gastroenteritis and will not be available at the last minute.
The Belgian goalie is being substituted with Andriy Lunin from Ukraine, and the team’s backup goalie, Mario de Luis, has been included in the squad.
During a news conference on Monday, Ancelotti had hinted that Lunin may have more playing time towards the end of the season.
Ancelotti stated that Courtois will continue if he is doing well and has no issues.
Lunin has performed well in the matches he has played and it is possible that he may get more game time before the season ends.
Karim Benzema, the French striker, will be absent from Madrid’s upcoming match due to an injury he sustained during their victory against Celta Vigo.
Dani Ceballos has been suspended and David Alaba, Ferland Mendy, and Eden Hazard remain injured.
Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, announced that Eduardo Camavinga has a minor injury, but he will still be part of the team that will play against Girona.
