The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Monday that India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah would return from a protracted injury hiatus to lead the team against Ireland in the Twenty20 series next month. Bumrah’s absence was caused by an injury.
Since September of last year, the right-arm seamer who is 29 years old has not participated in any international cricket matches. He underwent rehabilitation after having back surgery in March.
Bumrah was unable to participate in the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia as well as the Indian Premier League last year.
India will play Ireland in a total of three Twenty20 matches beginning on August 18.
