On Sunday, the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Nazmul Hassan Papon, said that the board is prepared to do all possible to ensure that Tamim Iqbal makes a complete recovery from his injury.
During the last two years, we have been fulfilling all of his requests in every possible way, regardless of whether they are related to activities that take place in the United States or elsewhere. Now he is telling that the doctor has told him that he must either take an injection or go under the knife to fix the problem. Papon told reporters today at a hotel in the capital after a luncheon with the women cricketers that “fine, we will do whatever he wants.” The meeting took place earlier today.
“There is no doubt in my mind that we are prepared to do everything in our power to ensure his full recovery,” he continued.
Tamim, the captain of Bangladesh’s one-day international team, is now on holiday in Dubai with his family. Last week, he gave interviews to two local media sites and said that the fitness regimens that had been prescribed to him did not take into mind his prior injury concerns.
“The injury flared up again not long ago when I was doing weights at the gym. The issue that has to be asked at this point is whether or not the workout that I was performing at the gym is appropriate. Why was I assigned a workout that I had no business doing? Tamim stated.
In response to this claim made by Tamim, the president of the BCB issued the following statement: “I don’t know why he made this remark because he never informed me that. I don’t want to make any comments on this issue since I have no idea what context he was speaking in when he made this remark.
Papon also said that Tamim would serve as their captain during the World Cup. Tamim will lead our team in the World Cup.
However, the head coach of the BCB has not provided any definitive answers on the left-hander’s comeback to the national team.
“In the latter two matches [against Afghanistan], Liton [Das] led the squad in place of Tamim, who was unavailable for those contests. Now, if Tamim returns, he will take over leadership of the squad; if he does not, however, another player will step into that role. We do not have any information on his comeback, including which match he will be able to play or when that match will take place. Because I do not have any information [regarding Tamim’s return], I will not make any remarks. However, it is our hope that he will make a speedy and complete recovery so that he may rejoin us as soon as possible,” he said.
