BCB keen on Asia Cup ‘whatever the model’

If the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) makes a decision about where and how the tournament will be played, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will have to let go of any reservations regarding the model, hybrid or otherwise, and the country in which the matches will be played. The BCB had been unwilling to play the Asia Cup in Dubai because of the heat there.

The Asia Cup is in jeopardy, especially after it was reported by PTI that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would not support the hybrid model proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board. According to this model, a few matches would be played in Pakistan, while India’s matches and the final would be held at neutral venues. This model has cast doubt on the viability of the Asia Cup.

“We are excited about the opportunity to compete in the Asia Cup. We are interested in the competition regardless of the format it will be hosted in. Jalal Yunus, the chairman of BCB’s cricket operations, made this statement to the media yesterday. “We will have no choice but to play there if the ACC decides that the tournament will be played in Dubai and the other members agree,” Yunus said.

In the past, the BCB gave the reason that they would not play in Dubai as being worried about players being injured. When questioned if Bangladesh will comply by the ACC’s decision to play in Dubai, he responded, “Of course there is some discomfort.

” Because our attention is currently concentrated on the World Cup, there is some discomfort. Because we are concerned about our preparations, we decided against playing in Dubai. This is one of the reasons why. We are still awaiting a ruling from the ACC,” he went on to say.
