According to Kazi Nabil Ahmed, chairman of the National Teams Committee, the Bangladesh national football team will compete in a friendly match on June 15 in Cambodia. The match will serve as preparation for the SAFF Championship, which will take place in July.
The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship is set to take place in Bengaluru, India, from the 21st of June to the 4th of July.
The regular season of our league will end on June 3, and the first day of training camp will be on June 4. Following a meeting of the NTC on Sunday, Nabil addressed the media and informed them that the training camp would be held at the Bashundhara Kings Arena and that the squad would be staying at a hotel in the immediate area.
“During the FIFA window, we reached out to a few other federations, and we were ultimately able to set up a friendly match versus Cambodia on June 15. We will conduct a training session in Cambodia for a few days, and then on June 16 we will go from Phnom Penh to Bangalore,” the BFF vice president remarked.
Nabil asserted that even though they had the possibility to hold the training camp in Saudi Arabia, they opted to have it at Kings Arena instead because the climate there is more analogous to that of India and because they wanted to minimize the amount of time spent traveling.
The addition of Kuwait to the SAFF Championship makes for a more difficult competition. India is highly powerful, and Kuwait is very powerful. We have informed the coach that this is the competition that has the most weight for us during this season. “There will be a lot of expectations regarding this competition,” Nabil stated in reference to the obstacle that will be presented at the largest football competition in South Asia, where Bangladesh has not advanced to the semifinals in the previous decade and a half.
