As a result of the third rain delay that occurred on Wednesday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the opening one-day international match of the three-match series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh was won by Afghanistan by a margin of 17 runs (DLS).

In their innings in response to Bangladesh’s 164, Afghanistan were able to score 83 runs while losing two wickets before the last rain delay.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, Afghanistan’s openers, pulled up a 54-run partnership until the former was bowled by Shakib Al Hasan while attempting to boost the ante after having scored a 45-ball 22. This helped Afghanistan get off to a respectable start.

Zadran, on the other hand, held his ground and stayed undefeated on 41.

Another one of the wickets to fall was Rahmat Shah. After scoring an eight off 14 balls, the right-handed hitter hit a single against Taskin Ahmed that was caught by the keeper.

Because he took three wickets while only allowing 24 runs to score, Fazalhaq Farooqi was named the player of the match.

Earlier on, Bangladesh had the success of posting 169 for nine after a total of 43 overs. After weather delays shortened the game to 43 overs, the goal score was eventually changed to 164 runs to try to challenge the players.
