Afghanistan in town for lone test 0

Yesterday, when members of the Bangladesh Test squad were flying into the nation and checking into the team hotel in preparation for the impending one-off Test series against Afghanistan, their rivals from Afghanistan were arriving in the country in two separate groups.

The first group of Afghans arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International airport around nine in the morning, while the second batch arrived in Dhaka at twelve thirty in the afternoon. The teams from Bangladesh and Afghanistan are now residing in the same hotel in the nation’s capital: the Pan Pacific Sonargaon.

Due to a lower back injury that he acquired during Afghanistan’s recent tour of Sri Lanka, Rashid Khan has been ruled out of the lone Test match that is slated to commence on June 14 in Mirpur. Rashid Khan’s absence from the match will undoubtedly be felt by the Afghan cricket team.

The soreness that stand-in captain Liton and ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal have been experiencing in their backs has caused them to miss recent training sessions. The hosts also have some worries over injuries to other players. Even though pacer Taskin Ahmed has made a full recovery from a side strain injury, it is still unknown whether or not he would be ready to take part in the test.

Starting today, both sides are going to be practicing at the cricket stadium, which is located in Mirpur. Afghanistan will begin their practice session in the afternoon, while the Tigers will train in the morning session.

Bangladesh, which was captained by Shakib Al Hasan, was defeated by Afghanistan by a decisive 224-run margin in the last and only Test match that Bangladesh played against Afghanistan in 2019.

following the conclusion of the test series, Afghanistan will go back home for the Eid ul Adha holiday, following which they will depart again on July 1 for the one-day international and twenty-over cricket series.
