
At the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, India’s women’s team defeated the home team, Bangladesh, by seven wickets to take the series opener.
As a result of a 70-run third wicket partnership between Smriti Mandhana (38) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (54 not out), India easily surpassed Bangladesh’s low score of 114 with 22 balls to spare.
For 25 runs, Shultana Khatun took two wickets.
In the first game of the series, Bangladesh was unable to post a competitive total against their powerful opponents. The Tigresses were unable to do much with the bat, scoring only 114 runs for five wickets in their 20 overs.
Shorna Akter had the greatest run-per-ball average for his team with 28.
The second Twenty20 International will be played on July 11 at the same location.
