Even though the bowlers and captain Nigar Sultana Joty did their best with the bat, the Bangladesh women’s team lost to India by an agonizing eight runs in the second T20I today at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
The loss also meant that the Tigresses lost the three-game series 2-0 with one game left to play. Bangladesh was bowled out for 87 after playing all 20 overs while trying to reach a poor goal of 96 runs.
After losing the first game by seven wickets, Bangladesh’s bowlers made a strong statement by holding India to 95 for eight. In her four-over spell, Sultana Khatun took three wickets for 21 runs, which was a big deal.
After the swap, the Tigresses’ top order fell apart, and in 7.5 overs they were down to 30 for 4. From there, captain Joty started to fight back. He and Shorna Akter made a 34-run stand that brought the game back to life.
Joty was the only one keeping the Tigresses’ game together, but when she was stumped off a ball from Deepti Sharma after hitting 38 runs in 55 balls, the hosts lost their way.
The Tigresses were panicking because they only had four wickets left and needed 10 from the last over. In the last over, they lost four wickets, which made them lose the game.
