In the second one-day international of the three-game series that took place at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Bangladesh suffered the loss of three wickets inside the first nine overs of their innings while attempting to chase down Afghanistan’s score of 331.
Tigers captain Liton Das was the first to be dismissed after he misplayed a pull shot as he fell off a short ball by Afghanistan fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi. Next, Afghanistan’s Najmul Hossain Shanto was castled by Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and then Mohammad Naim sliced one into the stumps of Farooqi.
After the first nine overs had been bowled, Bangladesh had scored 26 runs despite losing two wickets.
Before attempting to knock Farooqi over the leg-side in the fifth over, Liton reached his 13 run total by hitting three boundaries off of 15 balls. After the end of the fifth over, the Tigers’ score was 17 runs for the loss of one wicket. The right-handed hitter was only able to top-edge the ball straight to short mid-wicket.
Shanto was castled for a 15-ball six in the over that followed because he was unable to get a read on the off-break that Mujeeb Ur Rahman was bowling.
While everything was going on, Naim had a difficult time breaking out of his shell. In the ninth over, he was finally put out of his agony when he played into the stumps a ball that was close to his body.
Earlier, after being given the first turn at bat, Afghanistan scored 331 runs for nine outs.
