At the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh in the second one-day international by a record-setting margin of 142 runs to claim victory.
This victory was much more decisive than their 136-run victory against the Tigers in the UAE in 2018.
The dominant victory gave the visitors a 2-0 lead in the one-day international (ODI) series against Bangladesh, giving them their first ever victory in an ODI series played in Bangladesh. The third and final ODI is scheduled to take place at the same location on Tuesday.
Due to an injury, Ebadot Hossain was unable to contribute to the Tigers’ batting performance, which ultimately resulted in a score of 189 after 43.2 overs in response to Afghanistan’s 331.
The lone highlight of the innings was Mushfiqur Rahim’s 69 off of 85 balls, which included six boundaries. However, his performance only served to fuel a losing cause for the Tigers, since they had already lost half their side for 71 runs after 18 overs.
The bowlers Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman each took three wickets, while Rashid Khan took two scalps.
In recognition of his 125-ball, 145-run knock, Rahmanullah Gurbaz was awarded the honor of player of the match.
