In the first half of today’s SAFF Championship opener between Lebanon and Bangladesh in Bengaluru, Bangladesh’s defense, headed by goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico, has held firm against a superior Lebanon.
The scoreboard reads 0-0 at intermission, but in terms of possession and quality of chances created, Lebanon has been the superior team by a wide margin, reflecting the disparity in rankings between the two teams.
While Zico made a spectacular save on a shot from the left, the defense remained solid and denied Lebanon any clear-cut opportunities.
However, Bangladesh threatened once with a goal-bound shot late in the first half, but the men in red and green were unable to maintain composure whenever they regained possession, resulting in multiple unforced errors.
