Al-Hilal has signed Morocco goalie Yassine Bounou from Sevilla on a three-year deal, the Saudi Pro League club said on Thursday.

“The Atlantic lion is our goalie,” Al-Hilal wrote on X, which used to be called Twitter.

The deal’s details were not made public, but Spanish media said that Sevilla will get 21 million euros ($22.8 million).

Al-Hilal said that HRH Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, who is the group’s unofficial president, was behind the deal.

Bounou, who was 32 years old, was Sevilla’s number one goalie. He helped the Spanish team win two Europa League titles and helped Morocco get to the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar last year.

Bounou, also known as “Bono,” was said to be wanted by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as a temporary replacement for Thibaut Courtois and Manuel Neuer, who were both hurt.

Al-Hilal has won 66 awards, making it the most successful club in both Saudi Arabia and Asia. They have won 18 local league titles and four Asian Champions League wins.

This week, Neymar, a Brazilian scorer, was brought in from Paris St. Germain by Al-Hilal.

The club gave Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus a one-year contract extension and brought in Ruben Neves, Sergei Milinkovic-Savic, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Malcom, who used to play for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In the next round of the Saudi Pro League on Saturday, Al-Hilal plays at home against Al-Feiha.
