After missing the World Cup for the first time, West Indies has put together a 15-person team that will play three one-day games against England next month. One of the players named is wicketkeeper-batsman Shane Dowrich.

Dowrich, who is 32 years old, was called up by surprise three years after his last test match and four years after his only one-day international. He’s played in 35 matches.

Alzarri Joseph has been named vice-captain, and Shai Hope will be captain. Sherfane Rutherford and Matthew Forde, both all-rounders, will get their first chance to play for their country.

“Everyone is clear on what needs to be done as we get ready to play England at home,” Daren Sammy, the coach, said in a statement.

The first two games of the series are in Antigua on December 3 and 6. The third and final ODI is on December 9 in Barbados.

The squad:

They are led by captain Shai Hope and have vice captain Alzarri Joseph. They also have Alick Athanaze, Yannic Cariah, Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich, Matthew Forde, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, Gudakesh Motie, Kjorn Ottley, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, and Oshane Thomas on their team.
