The head coach of the Bangladesh U-17 women’s team said his players were excited for their first foreign mission, and they proved it by performing well and winning against Turkmenistan in their first game of the AFC U-17 Women’s Asia Cup Qualifiers in Singapore.
Bangladesh scored five goals within the first hour and ended up winning 6-0. Thuinuye Marma scored two goals, while Puja Das, Ruma Akter, Sauravi Akanda Prity, and Srimoti Trishna each scored one.
Bangladesh took an early lead in the third minute with a goal from midfielder Puja.
Shortly after the debutants scored their first goal, Thuinuye scored her first goal for Bangladesh, causing them to become nervous. However, just as Turkmenistan was starting to feel more confident, Bangladesh’s captain, Ruma, scored the team’s third goal in the 39th minute, giving them a comfortable lead of 3-0 at half-time.
Turkmenistan’s challenge became more difficult when Thuinuye scored her second goal just seven minutes into the second half. Bangladesh extended their lead to 5-0 in the 60th minute with a penalty goal from Sauravi.
Turkmenistan had to focus on fixing the damage caused, while Bangladesh continued to push until Srimoti, a substitute player, scored a penalty to end the game with multiple goals.
Bangladesh will play against Singapore on Sunday at the same location.
