Manchester United twice surrendered one-goal leads to Tottenham Hotspur in a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday, a frustrating outcome for Erik ten Hag’s club, which is urgently seeking to climb the Premier League table.

Spurs scored via Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur as they maintained fifth in the rankings, equal on 40 points with fourth-placed Arsenal despite having played one more game. United moved up to seventh place, but are still eight points behind the top four.

Rasmus Hojlund’s goal in the third minute set United off to a fast start. With a vicious left-footed shot to the top corner, the 20-year-old scored for the second time in as many home games. Richarlison scored the equalizer from a corner in the 19th minute, capitalizing on United’s weak marking.

Marcus Rashford scored his fourth goal of the season right before halftime with a fast one-two with Linus Hojlund. Bentancur scored less than a minute after halftime, receiving a feed from newcomer Timo Werner and shooting past goalkeeper Andre Onana.
