After a disappointing loss in the first game of the three-match T20I series, Bangladesh will play India at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today hoping to keep their series hopes alive.

Nigar Sultana Joty’s team lost the first match by seven wickets because they were unable to post a competitive total with their bats. They scored 114 for five in their allotted 20 overs.

Shathi Rani (22), Shamima Sultana (17), and No. 3 Sobhana Mostary (23) all got out to good starts, but none of them were able to turn it into a large score.

According to Tigresses’ head coach Hashan Tillakaratne, the hosts are focusing on their faults, notably in areas such as limiting the amount of dot balls.

Our gathering today is the place to conduct that conversation. In the first game, we ate 61 dots, which is a lot. Our base strategy for batting is 40 dots, so those extra 21 would be a waste. This is why I argued that we must grow, evolve, and acquire new knowledge. Tillakaratne told the media Monday, “I am convinced we will make a good comeback tomorrow (Tuesday).

A few veteran cricketers, notably Fargana Pinky, were left off the team’s roster for the series, prompting some to question the decision. Another top-order batter, Murshida Khatun, was left off the starting eleven for the opener. The former Sri Lankan batsman claimed that they have not restricted opportunities for older players while giving younger players a go.

We’re a highly organized group with several talented and driven players. When asked if they realize they are playing one of the finest teams in the world, he replied, “Yes.”
