Bangladesh cricket players congratulated the Under-19 squad on reaching the final of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup and encouraged them to win the trophy.
The Tigers have arrived in New Zealand and will face the hosts in three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), beginning with the first ODI on Sunday in Dunedin.
The stand-in, Najmul Hossain Shanto, led the congratulatory message to the young Tigers and encouraged them to win home Bangladesh’s first Under-19 Asia Cup triumph.
“Many congratulations to everyone. “You guys played really well,” Shanto stated in a BCB video posted from inside the squad bus in Dunedin.
“The Bangladesh team is in an excellent position. There is only one more step to take. By performing well, you can now present Bangladesh cricket with a trophy. You’ve put in a lot of effort over the last few months. “Best wishes for the final,” he wrote.
Towhid Hridoy, a member of Bangladesh’s only other U-19 Asia Cup final in 2019, which they lost to India, urged the current team to achieve history.
“We’ve won the World Cup, but never the Asia Cup.” We were defeated in the Asia Cup semifinals and finals. Inshallah, I hope you win the Asia Cup final this time.”
In the film, Mushfiqur Rahim, Anamul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, Rishad Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, and others wished the U-19 team.
Bangladesh’s U-19 squad defeated defending champions India by four wickets in Dubai on Friday to advance to the competition’s final.
They will now face the UAE in the final on Friday, who overcame Pakistan by 11 runs in the other semifinal.
