Tigers look to stay alive0

In an attempt to salvage the three-match series, Bangladesh will play the second ODI against the Kiwis at the Saxton Oval in Nelson, the only place in New Zealand where they have ever experienced an ODI victory. It has been nearly seven years since that success.

Tomorrow at 4:00 a.m. Bangladesh time, the match will kick off, and Nagorik TV and Green TV will broadcast live coverage.

Bangladesh beat Scotland by six wickets in their ICC World Cup group-stage encounter in Nelson on March 5, 2015.

But in December 2016, the Tigers played two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) at the same location against the Kiwis, losing both games handily.

The side captained by Najmul Hossain Shanto will be hoping that a trip back to Nelson will turn around their series’ negative start, which started with a DLS method loss by 44 runs in a rain-shortened game in Dunedin last Sunday.

In that particular game, Bangladeshi bowlers performed admirably to silence the New Zealand batsmen early on after Shoriful Islam had rocked them with a couple of blows in the opening over.

However, during the third rain delay of the innings, which reduced the game to a 30-over-a-side encounter, Will Young and Tom Latham launched an attack to establish a 245-run goal that proved to be too much for the opposition.

Bangladesh’s defeat today will give the hosts an unstoppable 2-0 advantage in the series.

But a victory would put an end to Bangladesh’s 17-match losing streak in One-Day Internationals against the Kiwis in New Zealand and give them an opportunity to win an ODI series against the hosts in their home country.
