There is renewed optimism that Bangladesh’s center back Tariq Kazi will be able to contribute to the team’s performance when they face Kuwait in the SAFF Championship semi-final on Saturday after he returned to the team’s training session yesterday.
After suffering a shin injury on the same day that he gave Bangladesh the lead against Maldives on June 25, Tariq rested for four days before participating in Friday’s training session.
In the event that Tariq is reinstated into the playing eleven, Bishwanath Ghosh will go back to his starting position at right back, while Rahmat Mia, who began the game against Bhutan, will be moved to the bench.
“Tariq is making progress, but we need to be careful because he is experiencing some discomfort in his ankle,” the doctor said. “The recovery is going very well, and let’s see what happens in the training session today,” the head coach Javier Cabrera remarked before to the start of the training session.
We don’t want to commit ourselves to anything at this point. If he believes that he is capable of performing, then he will do so; otherwise, another player will be substituted in, similar to what happened against Bhutan. “There is no cause for concern on our end,” continued Cabrera.
