Tamim Iqbal, a former captain of ODIs, came to the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday, when the national team players were doing their last day of fitness drills before skill training started on August 8.It was his first trip to Bangladesh since he said he was giving up his position as ODI captain.
Tamim spent some time in the medical department, and sources say that the southpaw talked to the doctors about how he was going to get better. He later went to the department that runs cricket before leaving the BCB building.
The 34-year-old has hurt his back, so he can’t play in the Asia Cup, which will be held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. His current plan for recovery is to get over his fitness problems and come back for Bangladesh’s home ODI series against New Zealand right before the World Cup in India.
Tamim will rest for the first time for two weeks until August 11. After that, the left-handed starter will start his training.
