Tamim Iqbal, the captain of Bangladesh’s one-day international team, has been dealing with back trouble for some time now, which caused him to miss the only test match that Bangladesh played against Afghanistan a few weeks ago.

The team is still dealing with some injury issues, but the captain confirmed today that he will be able to play in the game on Saturday.

Tamim did not participate in today’s training since the Tigers will play Afghanistan in the first one-day international at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

“There is no question that I will be available for tomorrow. Although I am in a physically better condition than I was before, I won’t declare that I am at one hundred percent just yet. “I will be able to comprehend what’s going on after tomorrow’s game, but as of right now, [the decision is] that I will be playing tomorrow,” the team captain said at the news conference that took place immediately after the conclusion of the Tigers’ practice session.

When the captain complains of back discomfort, the BCB medical staff plays into his weakness by giving him permission to rest and rehabilitate. It would seem that the same plan will be put into play as Tamim wants to observe how he performs following tomorrow’s first one-day international match.

“That’s more of an idea, I think, because I need to figure out how much more I can handle.” However, I won’t do anything that would put the squad at a disadvantage. I usually tell people that the team comes first, and then any individual,” he remarked.

“Right now I feel that I am ready for tomorrow, but during the game if I feel that I am not ready and it can be too risky then I, along with the medical department, will take a decision.” “Right now I feel that I am ready for tomorrow.” For the time being, I am well enough to play tomorrow, but we will have to wait and see how the next match goes,” he continued.
