The Bangladesh national team is going to Sylhet for a three-day practice camp on Tuesday, but it is unclear whether Shakib Al Hasan will be there or not.
The Tigers’ all-rounder will join the team in England next month for a three-match ODI series against Ireland, which is part of the ICC ODI Super League. The matches will be played on May 9, 12, and 14 at Chelmsford.
Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the CEO of BCB, stated that to his knowledge, Shakib will be joining the team in London.
Jalal Yunus, the cricket operations chairman of BCB, expressed uncertainty regarding Shakib’s presence in the upcoming three-day camp. He stated that he was not sure if Shakib would be attending.
The camp was planned, but the speaker doesn’t know if it is confirmed whether he will attend officially.
Local media reports indicate that Shakib may be going to the USA. Jalal was asked if Shakib had requested permission to miss the training camp, to which he replied that Shakib had not requested leave.
Bangladesh is planning to replicate the conditions they will face in England by studying the conditions in Sylhet. The team will travel to England from Dhaka after completing their training camp in Sylhet.
Although Shakib will not be present, the remaining members of the team will be playing for the ODI side led by Tamim Iqbal in Sylhet.
