Stuttgart win bayern's 'best game of year', says kane0

Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over fourth-placed Stuttgart was the team’s “best game of the year so far,” according to Harry Kane, as the reigning champions closed the gap on Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen to four points.

Kane scored twice and now has 20 goals in 14 league games since joining Bayern from Tottenham in the summer.

“It’s probably our best game this year so far against a really tough side,” Kane told reporters.

“Obviously, they’re right behind us in the league; it was a big game right before the winter break, and we were dominant throughout.”

“They had very few chances, we had countless chances, we could have scored a few more.”

Bayern was missing numerous first-team players, including Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Noussair Mazraoui, due to injury or illness.

Before kick-off, Leverkusen’s 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, who defeated Bayern 5-1 the previous weekend, meant Kane’s team were in risk of sliding farther behind Xabi Alonso’s men.

“Bayer Leverkusen are still going strong, they’re still up there, four points ahead, so we just have to win as many games as possible,” Kane, who has yet to win his first championship, continued.

“There’s still a long way to go; we’re not even halfway through the season, so don’t get too excited.”

“We needed to show a reaction after last week, which I think we did.”

Bayern will play Wolfsburg in their penultimate game before the two-week winter break on Wednesday.

“Hopefully, we can get three points on Wednesday and go into the break in good shape.”

“From January is where the business end starts.”

Leverkusen remain undefeated this season, with 21 victories and three draws from 24 games across all competitions.

“They’ve started the season strong, but we can’t focus on them, we have to focus on us,” Kane added.

“We’ve only had one loss in the league — we just need to keep that up.”
