According to the statement made by the club’s owner, Luciano Spalletti, the head coach of Napoli, will not be in charge of the recently crowned Italian champions next season since he has requested to take a vacation for an entire year.
There has been much discussion on Spalletti’s future as manager of Napoli following the club’s recent achievement of winning the Serie A championship for the first time since 1990.
“Spalletti has been a really great coach, he’s a free man, he’s given a lot, I thank him and now it’s right that he does what he wants to,” Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis said during a chat show broadcast on Rai TV on Sunday night. “He’s given a lot, I thank him and now it’s right that he does what he wants to,” De Laurentiis said.
De Laurentiis stated that Spalletti, who is 64 years old, had informed the owner that he desired to take a sabbatical for a year and that the owner would not resist the proposal.
When Napoli secured the championship earlier this month, Spalletti, who took over as manager of the club in 2021, was overcome with emotion and shed tears as he paid respect to his family and his brother, who had gone away four years before.
