Sics wicket the point of interest0

The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS), which will host the first Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand beginning tomorrow, had previously held only one Test.

Several training sessions have given both teams an opportunity to decide on the type of wicket that will be used.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto remained tight-lipped about his appraisal of the surface, but New Zealand captain Tim Southee was upbeat, stating he expected a decent surface.

“Perhaps you’ll have a better idea tomorrow.” As players, we attempted to steal as many concepts as possible. We will have more exact information when the game begins,” Shanto told reporters at the pre-match press conference yesterday.

“We had a quick glance at the wicket. There haven’t been many Test matches played here. So there’s not a lot of data and statistics to go on. “We’re anticipating a good surface,” Southee added.

The match will be only the venue’s second Test, following Zimbabwe’s 151-run victory over Bangladesh in 2018.

Spinners from both teams did the most damage in that match, taking 32 wickets.
