Montreal Tigers, captained by Shakib Al Hasan, are now in first place in the Global T20 Canada standings after beating Vancouver Knights by six wickets in Brampton on Tuesday.
This victory allowed the Tigers to extend their winning streak to three matches in a row.
However, despite having below-par performances, both Liton Das and Shakib were able to guide their respective Global T20 Canada teams to victory yesterday.
As the Vancouver Knights posted 149 for four, Shakib was caught for runs on the day, and he ended up conceding 41 runs over the course of his four-over performance with no wickets to show for it.
Shakib’s brief at-bat resulted in a score of only 12 runs off eight deliveries before he was run out early in the innings. As a result, the Montreal Tigers were reduced to a hazardous score of three for 21 after 2.5 overs. However, because to Sherfane Rutherford’s match-winning unbeaten 84 off of 53 balls, the Montreal Tigers were able to cross the finish line with 11 deliveries to spare.
While this was going on, Liton, who was batting at number three for Surrey Jaguars, scored 21 runs off of 20 balls, including a four and a six, to help his team beat Toronto Nationals by 20 runs in a shortened 18-over-a-side game that was played earlier at the same site.
The Jaguars were able to hold their opponent to 121 for nine after they had achieved a score of 141 for six after 18 overs.
