In the third iteration of the Global T20 Canada, Bangladesh Test and T20I captain Shakib Al Hasan led Montreal Tigers to a five-wicket victory against Surrey Jaguars on Friday.
As part of his all-around performance, Hasan also took the wicket of teammate Liton Das.
On Friday, both Shakib and Liton made their debuts in the GT20 League Canada, but only one of their performances will be remembered.
After being brought into the game in the fifth over, Shakib got his first wicket of the league by having Liton caught off of his fourth ball. Shakib ended the match with statistics of three for 18 in four overs, which helped reduce Surrey Jaguars to 136 for six on the scoreboard. He was responsible for two more wickets in the game.
In addition, Shakib excelled with the bat, scoring 26 runs off of only 13 balls, including four fours, one six, and a boundary, as the Montreal Tigers successfully chased down the goal with nine balls to spare.
Even though Liton hit Carlos Brathwaite for a six in the very first over of the match, he was only able to score nine runs off of 11 balls.
