Shakib is still captain in all formats: jalal yunus0

Jalal Yunus, chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) cricket operations committee, stated that Shakib Al Hasan is still the national team’s long-term leader in all three formats and that the board expects him to rejoin as captain after recuperating from injury.

“Shakib remains our captain. “We have given Shanto [Najmul Hossain] the captaincy for only two series against New Zealand,” a BCB official told the reporters in Mirpur today.

Shakib had indicated before the ICC ODI World Cup in India that he will step down as captain after the tournament.

Shakib will’sacrifice’ franchise leagues to help the national team.

Due to a fractured index finger, the all-rounder has been out of action since the World Cup. In his absence, Najmul Hossain Shanto led the side in a two-match Test series against New Zealand at home and will shortly face the same opponents in an ODI and Twenty20 series away from home.

Although no official announcements were made, Shakib’s pre-World Cup statement and Shanto being given the keys in his absence suggested that the youthful left-hander may take over as leader.

Shanto declares himself’ready’ for captaincy.

However, Jalal refuted such accusations, stating that Shakib is still the Tigers’ captain in all formats.

“As you are all aware, Shakib was granted the captaincy for an extended period of time. In all three versions, he is still our long-term captain. When Shakib returns, we anticipate him to take over as captain. There is no doubt that he will continue to captain the team in all formats. We see him as the captain.”
