The currently underway three-match, four-day series between Bangladesh A and their West Indies counterparts has emerged as a wonderful opportunity for several members of Bangladesh’s Test team to have solid match preparation in advance of the impending one-off Test against Afghanistan next month.
Today marks the beginning of the second game, and the selectors will be keeping a close eye on players such as Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, and Nayeem Hasan, who are all in the running for a spot on the team that will play Afghanistan.
During the current series, few of our regular players for the Test match are participating for Bangladesh A. According to comments that were made to The Daily Star by Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin yesterday, “We are keeping a close eye on their performances, and I think it is an ideal platform for them to prepare ahead of the Test series against Afghanistan.”
A few days before the beginning of camp in Mirpur on May 29, the selectors will make an announcement on the group that will be participating in the Afghanistan Test.
Minhajul mentioned that they were contemplating adding a few more players to their roster for the third and final four-day match.
The likes of Mominul Haque, Yasir Ali, and Nurul Hasan are players who we are thinking about include in the last four-dayer. Before the test, we are open to observing some of the other cricket players.
Rain ultimately saved the result for Afif Hossain and the rest of his team after the first four-dayer finished in a tie. However, the hosts were put under significant pressure by the visitors. As a result of the visitors declaring their first innings on 427 for seven, the home team, Bangladesh, was compelled to continue batting after being put in that position. The batting performance of the home team was the primary source of worry for the coach, Jamie Siddons.
In the first innings, Saif Hasan scored the most runs with 95, although the right-handed batsman faced only 71 deliveries, and his aggressive style did not exemplify a longer-version attitude.
I’d want to see the batters face off for a whole six hours. I don’t want to witness anyone’s showy twenties or rapid-fire thirties. At the conclusion of each day, we want the hitters to be able to knock the bails off so that they can get ready to bat the next day. This is the main focus of the four-day format of cricket. Leaving the decision up to the coach and the captain. Yesterday, Siddons made this statement to the media: “Not being bowled out cheaply.”
However, Siddons commended the sporty green-tinged surface at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. This pitch allowed rookie bowler Mushfik Hasan to offer a peek of skill in the first game. Siddons applauded this pitch.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better performance from the pace bowlers. They bowled quite well in excellent locations, which took me by surprise. A few of unfortunate low blows that would have altered the course of the game in some way. There is a chance that we may see a few different bowlers, but nevertheless, we are anticipating seeing the same performance.
