The Brazilian midfielder Fabinho has signed a three-year agreement to play for Al Ittihad after making the move from Liverpool, as was revealed by the Saudi club on Monday.
British media stated that the Saudi Pro League winners paid 40 million pounds ($51.33 million) for the 29-year-old player, but the specifics of the transaction were not released.
At the Jeddah-based club, Fabinho will be playing alongside the likes of former Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante and former Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema.
Since joining the club in 2018, the Brazilian international has played a total of 219 times for Liverpool, during which time he has contributed to the club’s victories in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.
In the same week that Steven Gerrard left Liverpool to join Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, Jordan Henderson also departed the club.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo made the move to Al-Nassr in January of this year in a contract that was rumored to be worth about $220 million per year, the Saudi Pro League has developed a reputation as a desirable destination for high-profile players.
