India has pledged to mount a formidable comeback following South Africa’s dismissal by 32 runs and an innings on Thursday, when the two teams meet again next week for the second and final Test of their brief series.
Captain Rohith Sharma, who was dismissed cheaply in both innings, predicted that despite missing the opportunity to capture the series, India would regroup and return firmly.
The short visit to South Africa was termed the “final frontier” due to the fact that it is the last nation where India has failed to win an away series; however, they are now unable to do so.
“We are simply not good enough to win this match,” Rohit said of his team, which was dismissed for 131 in its second innings on the third day.
“On that pitch, I believe we scored respectably in the first innings; KL Rahul’s century was particularly impressive.” We were subsequently unable to capitalize on the situation with the ball.
“However, we also failed to appear with the bat today.” Weak batting characterized the second innings. To secure victory in test matches, it is imperative to foster a sense of unity among all participants. However, we were unable to accomplish that.
Virat Kohli’s second innings, in which he scored 76 of the Indian runs as a lone bastion with wickets falling all around him, was also highlighted by Rohit.
“There are not many positives associated with losing a game in three days, but as previously stated, the manner in which KL Rahul batted in the first innings demonstrated to many of us what to do on that type of pitch. The majority of our bowlers are still learning and have never been here before. Consequently, I avoid being overly critical of them.
“We shall regroup and retaliate,” Rohit declared.
India has not achieved a victory at Newlands, the venue for the second test commencing next Wednesday.
Regrouping in a timely manner is of utmost importance. Such a loss is difficult to accept. “However, as athletes, we all experience these types of moments; therefore, you must pick yourselves up and prepare for the next challenge that lies ahead,” he continued.
