Rinku Singh has had a season to remember in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL), but despite lighting up the league with his batting exploits, the explosive middle order batter is not thinking about being selected for the national squad despite having a season that will go down in IPL history.
In the first four years of his Indian Premier League career, Rinku had scored 251 runs but was unable to get a single half-century. The 25-year-old batsman for the Kolkata Knight Riders has scored 474 runs so far this season, including four fifty-point innings.
The previous month, he made headlines for the first time when he slammed five sixes off of five deliveries to help the Gujarat Titans chase down their massive target in the final over of the match when they needed 29 runs to win.
On Saturday, he came close to doing it again in Kolkata’s last game against Lucknow Super Giants, when they required 21 off the last over, but they fell short of the mark by just one run as he concluded on 67 not out off 33 balls.
“When you have a season like this, it feels pretty fantastic, but I’m not thinking about being selected for the Indian team. The uncapped Rinku told reporters, “I will go home, stick to my routine, and continue to practice.”
“The name and celebrity will be there, but all I’m going to worry about is my work… The members of my family are in a wonderful mood. Many different things have been successful.
“After I hit those five sixes, I started getting a lot of respect from the people, and now a lot of people recognize me.” “After I hit those five sixes, I started getting a lot of respect from the people.” So it feels nice.”
Rinku was the shining light for two-time defending champions Kolkata during a season in which they were unable to secure a position in the postseason for the second year in a row.
“I believe it seems like each and every one of the 14 matches that I’ve discussed about Rinku. The way that the season has gone for him has made me really pleased for him, and I am very delighted for him,” the captain of the Kolkata team, Nitish Rana, remarked.
Because of our tight relationship, I am aware of all the arduous labor he has put in. It’s hard for me to find the right words to characterize him given that everyone in the country is aware of what he’s accomplished.
“If he can bat in pressure situations like these, then he can do anything.”
