The Portuguese sensation Cristiano Ronaldo, who became the first player to reach 850 goals in his career with Al-Nassr, said on Wednesday that he wants to go “even further.”

The attacker said, “I want more,” during a news conference before to working out with the national team at Oeiras, a town outside of Lisbon, in preparation for the impending European Championship qualifiers.

The 38-year-old went on, “As long as I play, I want to set the bar very high; I have to think big.”

In June of last year, Ronaldo celebrated his 200th cap for his country by scoring the lone goal in Portugal’s triumph against Iceland. This victory kept the Selecao atop Group J in the Euro 2024 qualifying round.

The 2016 European champions will take against Slovakia in Bratislava on Friday, then Luxembourg at the Algarve stadium in the southern region of Portugal three days later.

“I’m really hoping to win these two games. “We will almost qualify if we win,” said the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

In response to a question about his competition with Lionel Messi of Argentina, Ronaldo said that the two “respected each other” and that he thought they had “changed the history of football.”

As he approaches his 20th year in the national team, Ronaldo expressed his “proudness” at his “longevity.”

“I feel good and I want to continue, but anything can happen,” he added, adding that for the time being he wanted to “enjoy the moment” and had given himself the objective of “having an excellent Euro.”
