Right-back for Real Madrid Dani Carvajal is expected to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a calf injury in the weekend triumph against Granada, according to the club.
Carvajal was replaced at halftime in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Girona, which put Madrid atop La Liga on goal difference ahead of surprise contenders Girona.
The club stated that testing indicated an injury to his left calf but provided no timetable for his return. Carvajal could be out for a month, according to Spanish media.
The 31-year-old has been a regular for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season, captaining the team on several occasions.
