Rain halts play as tigers look to regroup after two quick wickets0

Bangladesh was in need of a strong partnership before rain stopped play in the first one-day international against Afghanistan at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, they lost the wickets of their in-form batter Najmul Hossain Shanto and their opener Liton Das in short succession.

After 15.1 overs, Bangladesh had reached 84 for three when the skies came up, which prompted the umpires to call for the covers to be hauled out.

After the conclusion of the first Powerplay, Liton and Shanto both exited in the succeeding overs of the game. Liton reached his score of 26 off of 35 balls, which included two boundaries and a maximum. In the 11th over, he dragged a delivery from Mujeeb Ur Rahman straight to deep-backward square, which caused him to go back to the pavilion.

Another easy dismissal, Shanto’s one came about as a result of a sweep he played off Mohammad Nabi, which was caught by the fielder stationed at short fine leg with relative ease. Following a 16-ball 12, he left the scene.

As the Tigers search for a partnership to go back into the game, star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy remained undefeated on 4 and 8, respectively.
