Pothas warns of afghan white-ball threat0

Nick Pothas, an assistant coach for Bangladesh’s cricket team, feels that Afghanistan would be more motivated to make a statement and come hard at the hosts in the white-ball series after their record-setting 546-run loss in the lone Test.

The Afghan squad will be strengthened by the return of renowned leg-spinner Rashid Khan, as well as Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi, and it is anticipated that they will put up a difficult fight against the Tigers.

“A significant number of their key players (in Afghanistan) will now be fresh. They have returned from their rest. They are going to make another appearance. They have a great deal of national pride. Pothas informed the reporters in Mirpur the day before that the loss in the test match would encourage both the other team and ourselves when we return.

“But it’s extremely great for us because it’ll tell us where we are and it’ll give us a very excellent insight as to what we need to improve on, what we’re doing well, and so on. This is why it’s so exciting for us. Therefore, it’s going to be an interesting series, but it’s also going to be very, very challenging,” he said.

It is anticipated that the One-Day International (ODI) series against Afghanistan, which will begin at the beginning of the next month, would be the final series that the Tigers play before the forthcoming Asia Cup and the ICC ODI World Cup, both of which will take place later this year.

“This whole thing is a little piece of a far more comprehensive picture. The World Cup and the Asia Cup are undoubtedly the most important competitions right now. We could not ask for a more ideal way to be ready for it than to play a series versus Afghanistan. He made the observation that “they are a very good one-day team.”

The 49-year-old was also of the opinion that the Tigers would be under pressure from both the media and the fans, and he asked everyone to show their support for the club.

When it comes to the pressure that is being put on us, there is only one source of that pressure. It is the fans and the media who are responsible for this, not us. Therefore, the amount of pressure that you want to put on us is all up to you,” the South African remarked.
